Prefill Form 1120

It fetches the current Form 1120 straight from the IRS, reads your closed fiscal year out of Well, and writes what it can defend into the form's own fields: the corporation's name, address and EIN, the tax year dates, gross receipts, and the deduction lines your posted ledger accounts support. It hands back the filled PDF plus an explicit list of the boxes it did not touch, because a box filled from a guess is worse than a box left empty.

How the skill answers

Every step of the run, in order, with the card each one returns. A step that hands its work to another skill says which one.

  1. You ask

Can you fill our Form 1120?

  2. Settle the ground
  3. Refuse an open year
  4. Fetch the template
  5. Read the ledger
  6. Ask the checklist once
  7. Compute the arithmetic tier
  8. Write the fields
  9. Return the sheet and say what is blank
  10. You get

The IRS sheet for the closed year, filled from the ledger: gross receipts, cost of goods sold, each deduction line and the balance sheet, with every figure traced to a posted entry. What the books cannot decide, such as an election or an officer's compensation split, is asked rather than guessed, and the filing itself stays with you.

Frequently asked questions

Does this file my return?

No. It produces a PDF. Nothing in Well transmits to the IRS, holds an e-file credential or receives a submission acknowledgement. You or your preparer file it.

Are the amounts tax figures?

No, they are book figures read from your posted ledger. No book-to-tax adjustment is applied, because Well stores none. Schedule M-1 is your preparer's reconciliation, not this skill's output.

Why are so many boxes still empty?

Because nothing in Well determines them. Net operating loss, special deductions, credits, estimated payments and the tax computation each depend on facts the ledger does not carry. The skill names every field it left blank rather than guessing one.

Which tax year's form does it use?

Whichever one the IRS currently publishes at the canonical URL. The IRS re-issues Form 1120 every year and the field names shift between editions, so the skill verifies the field names it expects are present before it writes, and stops if they are not.

Can it do Form 1120-S or 1065 instead?

Not yet. Both are fillable and follow the same pattern, but each has its own field map and its own set of lines Well can defend. This skill is 1120 only and says so rather than writing an S-corporation return onto a C-corporation form.
