Import a statement
Every other Well skill starts from a connected account. This one starts from a file. Hand it a statement — a pdf from your bank, an export, or a photo of the page — and Well's own extraction reads it, then the statement, its lines and the transactions behind them become records you can ask questions about.
This skill writes data rather than only reporting on it. It shows you what it will do, and changes nothing until you confirm.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to connect my bank first?
No. This is the one Well skill that produces transactions without a connector. Connect a bank when you want future months to arrive on their own; use this for the months already behind you, or for an account nothing can connect to.
Can it read a photo of my statement?
Yes. The extraction reads images, so a phone photo of the page works. What it will not do is have the assistant read the numbers out of the picture — the reading is Well's, so every figure traces to a record.
I dropped a file on your website. Do I have to attach it again?
No, as long as you still have the claim token from that drop and it is under an hour old. One token covers every statement you dropped together; it works once.
What happens to duplicates?
The import pipeline deduplicates, so the same statement imported twice does not double your transactions.
